General Public - GJob DutiesThe Virginia Department of Health Professions (DHP) mission is to ensure safe and competent patient care by licensing health professionals, enforcing standards of practice, and providing information to health care practitioners and the public.
The purpose of this position is to provide licensure support for the Board of Pharmacy. This position maintains a high level of customer service and answers all phone calls and emails related to all licensing under the Board of Pharmacy.
This position evaluates applications, documentation and accurately processes licensing applications.Minimum QualificationsExperience working within a regulatory environment.
Considerable knowledge of office procedures and practices, including automated / hard copy file maintenance is required.Working knowledge of licensing principles and practices within a regulatory office environment.
Must possess or have the ability to quickly develop a comprehensive knowledge of state laws, regulations and policies pertaining to licensing.
Ability to apply this information in response to customer contacts, via phone or written correspondence.Ability to problem solve, work independently and research relevant documentation to ensure quality service.
Strong ability to effectively and tactfully communicate orally and in writing.Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively with others in a team environment.
Demonstrated ability to enter data, analyze data, prepare spreadsheets and make recommendations for improvement based on reports.
Experience working in administrative services or related field or equivalent combination ofeducation / experience.Experience working in a regulatory environment, knowledge of office systems, including licensing database systems and working with the public in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite.High School diploma or equivalentPreferred Qualifications :
Previous experience as a licensing specialist in a regulatory office environment is strongly preferred and college coursework in regulatory, legal or healthcare.
Knowledge of licensure database applications is strongly preferred.Special Instructions :
